How does Invisalign work?
The Invisalign teeth straightening system works through the use of plastic trays that gradually move the patient’s teeth over time. After a consultation with the patient and an assessment of the patient’s orthodontic needs, the orthodontist comes up with a treatment plan, which consists of a series of customized trays the patient changes every 2 weeks over the course of treatment.
Unlike traditional braces, the Invisalign system doesn’t require any wires or metal, so the trays can be more comfortable for the wearer. Over the course of the treatment plan, the patient periodically visits the orthodontist to assess the progress of the treatment. It is at these appointments that the next set of aligners may be given. Adjustments may need to be made to the treatment plan if there are any issues with the patient’s progress.
